HomesUnited Ministries
HomesUnited Ministries is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness through dignified housing and comprehensive support services. Using a Housing First approach, we prioritize immediate placement into safe and stable housing. At the same time, we address the underlying challenges that contribute to homelessness, including mental health needs, lack of income, and systemic barriers to care.
Moreover, our model emphasizes compassion, accountability, and measurable outcomes. By focusing on stability first, we help individuals regain dignity, restore hope, and begin rebuilding their lives with confidence and support.
Pathways to Independence
In addition to supportive housing and mental health respite services, HomesUnited Ministries provides multiple pathways toward long-term independence. For individuals who qualify, we offer SOAR disability advocacy, assisting with SSI and SSDI applications to help secure sustainable income.
Additionally, for those who wish to return to work, we provide employment readiness opportunities through real-world, paid jobs at HomesUnited locations. These roles include clerical support, facilities maintenance, landscaping, food preparation, carpentry, creative services, and volunteer coordination. As a result, participants build job skills, earn income, and gain valuable work experience in a supportive environment.
Community-Centered Solutions
By meeting people where they are, HomesUnited Ministries creates sustainable solutions that reduce homelessness and strengthen the community. We believe that every individual deserves a safe and stable place to call home. Therefore, we work collaboratively to ensure that housing is not only accessible but also supportive and dignified.
Furthermore, we actively partner with local organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders. Through these collaborations, we develop innovative solutions and advocate for policies that promote housing security and access to essential services. Ultimately, our goal is to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.
The Need for Housing and Support
Broward County, like many communities across the nation, faces significant challenges in providing affordable and stable housing. As housing costs rise and availability decreases, many individuals and families are left vulnerable and struggling to meet their basic needs.
At HomesUnited Ministries, we recognize that housing is a fundamental human right. More importantly, stable housing serves as the foundation for improved health, employment success, and long-term stability within the community.
